UPDATE BELOW-2-6-19

Hello Cuties, this is what I started this week. I am not thrilled with the fabrics, although I love the block pattern. The fabrics were purchased on my quilt trip to Missouri Star Quilt Company as charm packs called Roses on the Vine, by Marti Mitchell. A very easy pattern to piece called Double Square Star. Have any of you made this quilt?
I still have to sew my blocks together and decide exact placement. I just have them laid out on a bed, as I have no design wall. The only roses are the one large print and very few of those. There are some 'tiny' rose buds in the light pink and light green. I think the fabric 'read' as solid colors but they are mostly tone on tone or gingham. I will border and back it with the blue on bottom left in 2nd pic. I wish I have bought the floral in yardage for a border. Oh well. I hope the quilting will bring it to life! I will TRY to quilt it on my machine but it is a queen size and don't know if I can make the turns like I want to.
I went to a lady's house, with my niece, to see her mid arm Sweet Sixteen machine. The lady is married to Eraine's cousin. Anyway, I shouldn't have gone as I came home longing for anything with a larger throat space. Claudia was her name and she was very encouraging to me. Claudia had recently bought it and she said I made better free hand feathers than she did and that was my first try!-lol I did tell her I meandered or free motion stipple stitched on my home machine, so I had a 'feel' for it.
I saw the quilting of this quilt done with just straight line stitching and it really looked good. It was heavily stitched though. I can only hope to do this one as well.
So, I don't play the lottery, but if any of you do, remember I want a long arm quilting machine!-lol
Have a great day or night my friends-Toogie

UPDATE-I have pieced and sewn all the blocks together (see photo below). It is growing on me, because I've repeatedly sewn so many and now, am beginning to like it more. I still want to add a wide blue border all around, but I wanted to show you since I think with more blocks, it does look better. Thanks again for looking, encouragement, and just bearing with me!!!

Lovely colours, as you say, the quilting will bring it more to life.
If you win the lottery, buy 2 sweet sixteens - one for you and one for me!! I would love one!

Oh Mary, I came home drooling. I stayed on the computer days looking at the machines, knowing I won't live long enough to pay for one! I really don't have the room for a frame but a sit down mid arm sure would help!
Don't get your hopes up as I don't play!

I don't play either!! LOL

What a gorgeous quilt this is going to be and I love the pattern, too! Your machine quilting is far better than anything I can do - mine looks very "clunky" and I would never try doing it on a quilt I'd give away! If anyone deserves to win a lottery, it's you! Hugs*, Deb

I;m squaring up my pieced blocks now so I can see them into rows, then border, then quilt...It would be nice to just win a quilting set up!

The quilting will have to bring it to life. I just hope I can do it on my machine. If not, a lot of hand stitching!!!

lol-I'm not a winner either, can't win if ya' don't play, but my sister plays. Years back I always thought the Toyota Avalon was so pretty. She promised me a new one WHEN she wins. She is pretty lucky but hasn't hit the million.... Now, I'd rather have a long or mid arm quilter!

I figured you had made this one already Angie. It's very simple and easy, too. Show and tell when yours is made. I KNOW you have fabrics for it!

Love the quilt block and I think it will be astonishingly pretty when done. Good for you, but did you need another big project? I agree the fabrics read solid.
