Happy Saint David's Day - Dydd Gŵyl Dewi Sant. Today is the 1 March and in Wales, UK there will be celebrations. Where I live there is a music festival all weekend. When St David's Day is a school day many young children wear their Welsh costumes but this year its on the last day of half term. Cawl - a meat and vegetable soup is very popular and it is eaten with bara/bread and caws/cheese. Depending on the part of the country one is in the meat is beef or lamb.

Happy St. David's Day to you, too! I have heard of the holiday and have even "celebrated" it, but apparently not in the traditional (or right?) way! LOL! We'd have potato leek soup and we'd always have to have daffodils on the table.

That sounds very interesting. It is wonderful that traditions are still being recognized.

Happy Saint David's Day! Thanks for the brief cultural lesson. As others said, it is nice to learn about other customs around the world.

Happy Saint David's day Caroline. My English teacher in my first year at High school was an avid lover of British history and told us all about St.David of Wales, St.Patrick of Ireland, St Andrew of Scotland and of course St.George of England. I wish I had studied History in my senior years as I now find it fascinating. Hapus Dydd Gwyl Dewi Sant i chi. Love Chris
