oh yes, it is very beautiful. Are you putting Wool in it? I have quite a few wool quilts. Not fancy patchwork though, more like the old fashioned eiderdown that our grandmas had. but so warm and light.

Hi Vicki, no I use a bamboo/cotton wadding as I don't like the heat. This will be a spare one for my bed. Love Chris

Looks beautiful, I really love where you have place the blocks in the center of the quilt. Where I am from most of the quilters don't want to due custom quilting , just to much time and if they due the price is out of this world.

Thank you so much for your kind words. I'm not sure how much this one will cost. I'll find out next week! Love Chris

Beautiful, the navy with dots look great on the dark blocks. What type of quilting pattern are you thinking of.

Hi Marian, it's just going to be something simple that won't stand out. I want the patterns of the embroidered blocks to be the hero in this quilt. Love Chris

Wow Chris, What a beautiful quilt! How many hours did it take? You must be so proud of the outcome! πMary
1 comment
Well Mary, to give you an example - there are 49 squares in this, some took over 3 hours just to stitch out, some 2 hours and some 1 and a half! Then I had to cut out the sashing and did them individually as I decided to do the chequerboard effect in the centre of the sashing!!! So to answer your question lots and lots of hours!!!! I went to Spotlight here in Newcastle yesterday and bought a dark grey with a hint of blue for the backing. My quilting lady Nicola will get it on Monday and then I just have to wait. Love Chris

It is beautiful!! I have been watching as you posted some of the squares and each time, thought them to be very special. Choosing polka dot fabric instead of a solid colour was a master-stroke. The quilt really does look wonderful in the enlarge photo!! Congratulations!

Thanks Bev, I appreciate your comments. I love navy pin spot and for a long time looked for white with navy and there just wasn't anything around down here in Newcastle. So in the end I used a plain white with the navy thread and the brilliant blue thread as the contrast. My whole home is blues and white, so it will go on any of the 3 queen beds I've got! I love the effect of the thread on the navy as it looks almost lace-like!! Love Chris

Wow wish it was finished beautiful work .Could do with it here today temps are 8 deg at the moment in NZ. Love the spots they have always been a favorite of mine even when twin daughters were small . They just seem to fit in with any thing and give a lift .I have never thought about using them in my craft work though . It will be something to keep in mind .

Thanks Hilda, I'm with you, I love pin spot fabric. It stems from one of my first dresses that my Nanna made for me in a pin spot flock material, but that was red and white. Love Chris
(We had 30C here today - I'm up in the Hunter Valley at our friends place John and Deirdre Colvin. Been out for late lunch and a couple of wineries - I was designated driver, so no wine tasting, but had a small sip of Chardonnay at the restaurant during lunch - we are now watching movies!!) Love Chris
