Wonderful lace with insert. I'm seeing pillows, yokes on girl's dresses, hems, gathered/ruffled, curtains, wedding ring cushion. Have fun playing. That was sweet of him to think of you.

I tried sewing it together it look good,That way you can make a whole piece of fabric from it.
One more idea - baby bonnets.
