Greetings dear friends. I don't remember when I last was on this site. Life for me has been very stressful these last few months. My kids and I finally made the decision to put George is hospice. This was a very difficult choice. He no longer can feed himself, walk, or do personal care. It is tough to see the one I love so much to be in this condition. Some days he knows who we are and others not so much. Constantly changing. All we can do is spend as much time as we can with him and remember all the good times we had together.

HI Cindy. So sorry for your current sadnesses. Grab a notebook or blank book and write those memories as you sit with him, so you can look back later and remember freshly. You are losing him bit by bit, but you are still blessed to have him present at times. I will be praying for your choices and health and attitudes in these hard days. God bless.

It is nice to see you again. It must have been and still is hard to see your love in this condition. I wish you the best moments with him and hope to see you again soon.

You have been missed but we understand. Please know that we are praying for you and whenever you need a cyber hug or an ear and shoulder we are here for you. I love the idea of writing treasured memories in a notebook.

I have been writing love letters to George about our memories, so I can place them in his casket when the time comes. Thank you for your prayers.

Hi Cindy, so nice to see your smiling avatar on here again. I too pray for you and your family. My Dad went through something similar and as everyone on here has said it's so sad to see but keep going 'cause there are days when there are brilliant moments and days where there are sorrows May he be happy in his new place of residence. God bless, love Chris

P.S. Happy 5th birthday for Emma back on 14th May.

Chris, thank you so much for your prayers. He appears to be content at the VA Home. It is only three miles from me so I can go whenever I want. Thanks for remembering Emma's 5th birthday. She found out on her birthday that she is going to be a big Sister. She is so excited.

Cindy my thoughts and prayers come your way. It is never a easy decision to put a loved one into the care of others. It is so hard to have to admit, that one does not have the strength and know how. It is so hard on the caretaker. You did the right thing. Take care of yourself. Hugs

Cindy, We lost our Mom, a sister, and a brother to dementia. I know how hard it is to see someone you love slip away. Ours is a heredity form of dementia. My Mom lost her Father, one sister, one brother and a niece to this as well as the loss of my sister and brother. There were 7 of us kids and each of us has a 50/50 chance of getting it. It sucks!

So sorry that you had to make this decision. Glad you did it before something happened. My grandmother went for a "walk" on a cold, snowy day in a sleeveless top and shorts. Fortunately she was found cold but safe at the end of the property. If she would have been out for a bit more.....well, it would have been a different outcome. Hard choice but a good one for your well being and his. God Bless you all

Cindy I know all the feelings you are having. I have been in your shoes.. Fortunately being an RN I was able to keep my husband at home. Yes, He was 24/7 total care and that way for a couple of years. but kept his mind until just a couple of days before he died. Hospice helped me the last 6 months. But they were there only a couple of hrs a day for 5 days a week. They furnished a Hoyer lift for me to use, hosp. bed, oxygen everything We needed for his care. We were the same age. He died at 79. The only problem is I ruined my health. Dr and surgeon both tell me my back is so bad they cannot do any surgery. I ruptured disc's picking him up . They try to help me with pain but I will not take narcotics. I depended and still do on God Could not have done it without Him.. Would I do it again knowing the condition I am in now. Definitely! I would not change things at all. You can only do what you can. He will get the care he needs and you can have peaceful visits with him and keep your health. Just trust the Lord He will give youpeace of mind.
