Yesterday was an absolutely horrible day for me.

I heard that a good friend of mine had lost her battle with cancer. May you Rest In Peace dear Edith.
Then a few hours later we had a phone call from our neighbor to say that we had had a break in at our house. Being away from home it is difficult to take it all in.
A few hours ago my neighbour sent pictures. Our bedroom and spare bedroom have been ransacked and there is clothing all over the place. Something must of made them run as they had a blanket with my handbags and other things all ready to go which has been left.
We have decided not to go home before our due flight on Tuesday as there is nothing we can really do.
Our security company has made good the windows where they got in and are patrolling our area.

So sorry to hear this, Sarah.... It is bad enough when you are not traveling, but so much more worse when you are away and can do nothing. I hope they are able to investigate and catch the criminals. So sad for the loss of your friend...

Oh am so sorry about your friend. We have just dealt with my husband's sister next down from him-death June 11 and then her son [48 y/o found dead with blood clot in heart just a few weeks ago. Dreadful times. It pays to have good security but glad you were not home as you could have been hurt. Again, so sorry for your loss of friend.

Sarah this is awful. I am sorry to ready that you lost a good friend to cancer. As we get older this happens more often. Hopefully you have stored away a whole bunch of happy memories you shared with your friend and thinking about them might put a smile on your face.

The brake in makes me so mad. The destruction is not only in the material things but also the feeling of having been violated. I pray that you can put that aside and be able to enjoy your home again. sending you hugs

Thank you all so much for your notes. We are still waiting for the police 🙁, which I am furious about. My neighbor has been wonderful . Many of our friends think we should have come home but it has been wonderful seeing my grandchildren. We have a family party on Saturday as my second eldest grandson has just turned 21 and my eldest daughter is 50 on Sunday. We will be home on Tuesday. Not nice walking into a mess but it is only possessions. The lady looking after Keenu, my pekingese, will keep him a little longer while we get the house back in order.
Thank you all again and for your kind words for my friend Edith.

Sarah, I'm so sorry to hear about your friend. It's difficult not being able to gather with others who loved Edith also and share your sorrow and joy.
It stinks that someone broke into your home. How unsettling that must be not knowing what's damaged and missing. Lucky you for having a good neighbor who will take care of things until you can get back. I'm glad that you are spending time with your family, because after all, they are what is irreplaceable.

Sarah I am so sorry for all your problems. I know how it is to lose a dear friend and not be able to get back to say good bye. As for your home that is dreadful., but as jrob said at least you are with what matters the most ,your family.

Oh dear, we have a saying that bad news does not come in one piece.
Sorry about your best friend. We can already cure lots of things, but cancer is stil a hard one to solve.
It is horrible when they brake in into your house. We had one an attempt and it took quite some time to feel secure again.
I hope not too much is damaged and not too much is gone. And what is gone that these were things you can replace easily and not personal stuff. Take care. Hug Linda

Just seeing this. I went through a break in several years ago, and they didn't have time to take much, but that sense of violation and danger and being scared of stray noises stays with you for quite a while. We increased some locks and "hardened" some surfaces, but I still felt uncertain in that house.

So sorry for the loss of your friend and that you weren't in town. Do take time to share with someone as you would have if you had gone to the memorial service, a friend or a family member.

God bless.

I am so very sorry to hear of your friend, Edith's passing. Cancer doesn't discriminate and it leaves many broken lives in its wake. I really feel for you being away at this sad time but hopefully being with your grandchildren will help soften the pain of your loss.

I pray that your return home isn't as devastating as you may fear. There are far too many lowlife's around these days. I hope they haven't done too much damage.

Sending huge hugs dear friend. xxxx
