Just a reminder to back up your designs often. My laptop motherboard died last week - I was lucky - they were able to backup the hard drive for me. Do you schedule a backup - and, if so, how often do you do it?

I back up about every 2-3 month on a external hard drive. After that I will back up from the external drive to my laptop in my Hobby Room. I know it is not often enough. I think I would do it more often if it would not take so long. Glad you did not loose any data.

Thanks - me too!!!
I start putting my designs in the cloud then if anything goes wrong with the backup it is still in the cloud and I can download it - mostly use dropbox

That is what had happened to me - I had a backup - but it was probably 3 months old!!

I use a MAC and have a backup drive attached that backs up automatically whenever there are changes made. However these backup drives can fail as well. I have had to replace one several months ago. So I do also occasionally backup designs to a thumb drive. Would hate to lose 20+ years of designs collected! Hugs. Nan

I have and external hard drive that backs up every night... You would be surprised how much you DL or change during one day.
My husband's computer for business just got fried last week with a storm even tough we have a back up battery on the computer. He had all his back ups and is back to working again after a week So important to back up.

My hubby says I could set up an automatic backup in windows to our network hard drive. I need to look into it! Thanks!!

I know better too! I am going to look into the automatic backup through Windows 10.
Good luck with that, Laura, as I can't get the Windows auto back up to work properly for me....but we don't have a network hard drive...I only have two external hard drives and USB backups...

I have started using an automated backup to a thumb drive attached to my router that goes daily. Then I do an external hard drive backup too - that goes in our fire proof safe.
Our router doesn't have a USB port - that is very interesting though!!

I need to do that TONIGHT! I first save my files to my desktop mostly in a folder, then I send or copy those files to a USB. Wish I had an auto backup or external hard drive. Thanks for the reminder!
