Egg custard, plain mashed potatoes, soup that is not acid-based, such as tomatoes. Bananas. Applesauce. Think simple, plain, filling. And nothing that would cut, tear at your throat in case it comes back up! Sorry you hurt.

Yes, Jim made me some on the 2nd day and after 2 bites my throat was on fire...it was out of a package and had seasonings in it and that may be why it burned....ice cream is one thing that doesn't hurt...but it is like I have no desire to eat....am sure it is just a phase...

So sorry Vicki that you are feeling poorly. Our bodies do take time to heal after surgery and I pray that yours doesn't take too long. I agree with Betsey soft foods for a while. Maybe have tepid soup, so just warm, not too hot. The tissues inside our mouth are sensitive, but it's usually one of the first places to heal quickest. Thinking of and praying for you. Love Chris

You are right about the healing and the older we get the longer it takes.....it is going on midnight and am wide awake....I also have restless legs, like what next...lol. I have to keep reminding myself it has been less than a week and to be patient....

Oh Vicky I am so sorry you are still not feeling better. Hopefully your doctor will have a solution. Make sure soup is not hot, better only lukewarm. This might be crazy but as a child I had my tonsils removed and was allowed to eat ice cream.

I just don't have an appetite but you are right, ice cream does not hurt. Can't wait to talk to doctor and find out why my throat is so sore also my upper teeth on the right side hurt.. gonna ask him if he did dental work while he had me out..lol

You have my prayers!! I hope the doctor can give you something to ease the throat pain. I wonder if some soft serve ice cream would help. Let us know how the doctor's appointment goes. Every day should get better! Hugs and prayers, Laura

Laura, Vicki ice cream is good for anything!-lol-Just trying to lift your spirits...hang in there

Good for the spirits and the taste buds, but anything dairy is not good for the sinuses. Dairy encourages the sinuses to create mucous. My sinuses are doing much better since I have restricted my dairy intake.

So sorry to hear you are hurting my friend. But it will get better every day I promise. Once the splint is gone you will feel a lot better. Try cold shakes might sooth the throat. Meanwhile prayers are coming your way for a speedy recovery. HUGS Suzanne

I hate to put a damper on things, especially if it's something you can eat without pain, but I learned recently that dairy products are not good for the sinuses. It prods them to create mucous which causes that stuffy feeling. Please try to curtail eating dairy as much as possible.

Hi Vicki, I'm not sure if you can get DISPRIN tablets where you are. I had my tonsils out when I was 21 and while still in hospital could not eat solid foods because of my throat being sore. They eventually let me suck a DISPRIN before my main meal which helped me to start eating solids and were able to leave hospital. I did this for a week. Maybe you could ask your Doctor if there is anything you can do like that. I hope I have been helpful. Hugs from Maureen in South Africa
