Thank you so much, I couldn't figure it out. I don't have vacuum bags, mine is bagless, but for those of you who do, stay safe.

Just as an additional source for Hepa filter material, you can get Hepa Filters for your air condition/heating units. Some have been taking them apart, removing the wire mesh and using the filter material in masks... Just some additional information for what it is worth.

I saw that you can use HEPA filters in these face masks too. It's in the bag in your vacuum cleaner. If you have replacement vacuum bags, just cut out the HEPA filter...if you vacuum uses that type.

This is another mask. The pattern is from itself is from CraftPassion. In the tutorial by a retired nurse shows an alternate way of making the mask-like how to add the nose piece. There have been a lot of discussion about putting in pocket and what other materials to add as a barrier. Vacuum bags are used in many of the tutorials but as the non woven barrier interfacing has been used. In some it is added when the mask is being made and in others it is being added to the pocket so it can be changed.

I really think embroidering on mask is not a good idea. Virus is so small the more needle holes you make virus can enter. While it is pretty, we need these for protection, as much as possible.

Would coffee filters work?

It would be another 'filter' for viruses to have to penetrate, but who knows. We are all trying what we think best. Personally, I would think anything you have to help filter and still be able to breathe, would help.
I found a pattern from a nurse, that fits over a N95, because they are having to re-use N95. I made some and put a pocket inside to put whatever filter you have available, such as a cut up vacuum bag or whatever. I wrote my own instructions with a disclaimer (I don't want to be responsible) and I also gave credit to nurse for pattern altho I can't read the name, so hopeful I am covered/not liable. If you want it pm me, with your email address or email me, if you have mine and I will send it to you. I will try to post a picture above as I can't add to this comment. These are more trouble to make but I think worth the effort.
I only got 6 made all day yesterday.

I saw a you tube tutorial where they cut up a central vacuum system return. It was a 3M and it stated on the original packaging that it filters out virus'.

This is for Jenne's comment below.
If you make it to go over an N95 omit the pocket piece. The ties fit me better. I also made my ties longer than nurse said because I found hers were too short.

How do I pm you? My sister is a doctor and she only gets one N95 mask that she has to use everyday and this would be perfect. Thanks,
