Hello Cuties! My niece I travel with, gave me this little Thomas train set for Gus, as her grandson is too old now to play with it. I had this railway fabric in my stash, so I decided to make Gus a small backpack and put his pieces in it. Maybe it will encourage mom to let him take all the pieces home-lol-Gus' dad works with trains so I embroidered this design and rails for the front pocket. I was disappointed in the stitch out, but it is what it is... I did not have a backpack pattern, but after reading a few tuts, I figured I could make one as he is 4 years old and I wanted a small one. I could have made it even smaller but he will be able to get more in.-lol-Hope you like it. I don't know when he will get it, as we are still self quarantined. Have a good day Cuties. Stay home-stay well-Toogie

3-Inside with pocket( turned wrong side out)
4-my zipper pulls, I almost forgot!

The fabric was marked down when I got it so the attachments probably cost me more, but again, they’re in my stash!!! Thanks

Well done Toogie, you've done an awesome job and he'll love it because you made it for him. I love the top section on your backpack with the central zipper. Love Chris

I should have sewn my zipper closer joining to the bottom gusset. I was afraid I had not allowed enough length, but as it turned out, I had exactly enough. I could have sewn it closer, had I been sure, but I wasn't ripping it out. -Not as fancy as yours but thanks!

Fantastic Toogie--I remember back about 15 yrs ago or so made one of my granddaughter's back pack without a pattern--fly by the seat of your pants kind of thing. I do a lot of design as I go kind of thing. Gus will love this when he gets it. So will mommy!!

I just hope I have enough strap for him to adjust. I think I do but maybe we will see before he out grows it.-lol-We always had to have so many bags for Avery but this one is made just for him. Thanks!

Looks perfect to me. He will love it. You could take it over to his house and leave it on the doorstep. Then stand back and watch his joy. Hugs. Nan

I would have to let them know I'm coming or the outside dogs would chew it up! ...I told my husband the other day if he wanted to just 'get out' we could go ride and not really go anywhere or stop anywhere. He thought that was pointless. We did have to do our banking yesterday for this month, as I still had his last months check un-cashed or deposited. Mine is direct deposit. I deposited yesterday and gone today for house insurance. The saying, 'Here today, gone tomorrow', is so true.

That is perfect. You took extra care and time to make sure the design of the fabric matched up. Love it!! Did you make a pattern as you made the backpack?

Some pieces I did. One of our other nieces works for the newspaper. A year ago I was able to purchase a partial roll of paper for $5. if I remember correctly. It has a huge amount of paper left on it, so I use it sometimes to draw a pattern. Of course my other 'tool' for rounding corners is a tin can lid, plate, bowl, etc-lol-

Oh, Toogie, this is adorable! Gus is going to be thrilled with it! I hope you get out more - and a drive to nowhere is essential to your mental health, as far as I'm concerned! Hugs, stay well. Deb

I get out in the yard and watch and hope that the squirrels don't get the only two tomatoes in my garden so far.
Thanks for looking at Gus' backpack!
