Free designs are OK sometimes and some digitizers offer very nice free designs but I'd suggest you look at the quality of the design when it is stitched out. If they don't have a picture of the stitch-out, I would skip that design. One of the hardest things for me when I started out was trying to make a free/cheap design work. Once I found this site, my embroidery life was less frustrating and I learned some "free" designs are auto-digitized. You do not want one that has been auto-digitized.
Hopefully, Cuties have some suggestions on where to get what you want.
Please let us know the size of your largest hoop. It makes a difference.
