My friend Charlotte came over to help me make my first notebook cover. This took 5 hours to do the first one because reading and following that long list of directions is hard for me. You have to be exact of ITH. But, I'm sure the next one will be a lot quicker. She had made 4 before so she helped me make it. Don't the fabrics make a huge amount of difference in how the whole look is! That bottom right is a shiny fabric of some kind. The design is from Kreative Kiwi. Here is the one I made and the 4 she made. We learned how to use those K snaps! They were easy!

Actually it's the TOP right that is made of that shiny fabric. It's a bit iridescent for a teenager, the denim for a boy out of Grandpa's old jeans. What do you cat lovers think of the pink cat fabric?

I just don't do well by just reading all those directions, like what goes up and what faces down and if you have a one-way direction on your fabric it makes it extra hard.

These are wonderful! I enjoyed the color combinations your used for each one. Sometimes it takes me forever to figure out directions too.

I think it's really fun to combine the colors. The purple and yellow was easy because those are Louisa's favorite colors.

It was fun having her teach me for a change! That kitty fabric is nearly impossible to find, so I use it sparingly. But, it is really cute! I made some masks out of it. I am very stingy with my kitty fabrics!

When I am doing something like this for the first time I like to have a sheet of paper and write down my own directions as I go in words that make sense to me. I keep it with the original instructions for next time.
Things like stop after stitch 8 and trim fabric back before you stitch 9 or you will be sorry.

I like to do that too, to take notes because I don't always think the way the directions say.

I usually print out the instructions before I start to sew, read them several times, groan and start again. LOL I love pictures so much easier, but the videos are the best, I play them several times also, it really does help. Does anyone else have trouble sometimes hearing what is said ?? I know I do.
