Hi Cuties, as some of you have seen the East Coast of Australia is going through one of the worst "Weather Emergencies" in years. We are fine, Trev and Ben have been under our home bucketing out some sludgy water, they got about 8 buckets!

Years ago Trev put sand under our house as we are on the low side of the road and every time it rains heavily we get the run off, so that has helped tremendously. He's also been up on our roof checking tiles as we had some water coming through one of our lights, that's been fixed.
This storm is like the "Pasher Bulker" storm which happened in 2007. That was the worst flood emergency that I've ever lived through - this is as bad, if not worse. Families further up the coast of New South Wales have been inundated and have had to evacuate their homes and farms. The weather is certainly a talking point at the moment.
Thanks for all the concern, you guys are the best. Shout out to Sarah (airfyfairy), you are a gem! Love Chris

I was wondering how you were faring. It hasn't stopped raining here where I am in Queensland for at least 20 hours and still going. Some areas of my yard are ankle deep in water but no chance of getting into the house.
Hope you don't have too much run off going under the house.
Try to stay off the roads if you can. I am sure we all have enough back up food from preparing for lock downs to keep us going until the roads are safe again.

Hi Barb, yes, we are the same it hasn't stopped raining since Friday! We've had mostly heavy pouring rain and today it's just constant. The roads are dreadful filling up with potholes! I felt dreadful for that young couple whose house washed away down the river on their wedding day on Saturday. It's just devastating. Love Chris

Hi Caroline, yes, we are fine. I spoke to Meg and her backyard is awash with water rising from Spring Creek. They live on the top floor of their home all the time, so they are fine. Love Chris

The mid west is facing some nasty weather. We in the NorthEast are somewhere in between. We had a wet winter but the wind has been blowing so much that it has everything dried out and so many fires from people being neglectful or just not thinking. Prayers for everyone!

Hi Shirley, I feel like a duck! Poor Maisie, we only let her out for a wee and a poo, then she runs straight back inside. I don't think she minds the rain though being a Groodle, (Golden Retriever crossed with a Poodle) as soon as she sees a puddle she jumps straight in it! I feel sorry for Amy and Steve as their house has come to a standstill as no-one can work in these conditions. We are expecting sunshine on Wednesday. Love Chris

Keep safe Chris. My Daughter is around your area as well & she suffered a major heart attack about 10 days ago & was rushed to hospital where there was a team of surgical staff waiting or ambulance to arrive & she was operated on immediatly? They told her if she had waited another 2 hours she wouldn't have survived. She is now home but pretty worse for the wear so hope she can get to appointments through all the water.

by vickiannette 22 Mar 2021
hope you are okay, worrying is not good. Do hope you are able to call her on the phone....or are they down too. It's very bad.
by pennifold 22 Mar 2021
Oh! that is dreadful Irene, I do hope recuperates well and that she keeps safe. Did she have the operation at the John Hunter hospital at Lambton? I know up your way the roads are dreadful with flooding.
I'm just watching the news and the poor Hawkesbury river is still waiting to get to its peak at 13 metres! I hope the rivers up your way don't rise too much. Keep safe and dry, love Chris

Thanks Chris. Not sure which hospital Wyong is coming to mind but I could be wrong. She's black & blue on her arms as the op went through her right arm & canulares etc her left arm & she has awful veins at the best of times. The surgeon told the team there wasn't time to mess around with the canulares & they could do all that while he was getting her ready for surgery. No triage just straight to operating theater as she got out of ambo.

Yes Vicki I can phone her at this point of time. Trying not to get to worried as we also have her Fathers estate to sort out (he passed late last June) but left a horrible legal mess behind. It's been a terrible 12 months for us.I'm not upset about him passing as he wasn't a very nice man but he was her Father & she feels some sense of responibilty
by airyfairy 22 Mar 2021
May your daughter make a full recovery Vicki. Stay safe
by irenewayne 23 Mar 2021
thanks airyfairy. It's Irene here & it's my Daughter (not Vicki. LOL) who's in a soso condition but I thank you for your thoughts regardless of who is not feeling the best. Get well everyone. We had 110mls of rain overnight. I have a cupboard that leaks so have been washing towels etc. This is on top of the worst mouse plague in town for over 50 years & now the wet weather is driving spiders into homes & pets are eating the bait put out for mice. The vet here is inundated with patients. Always something....

Hi Vicki, we're fine, but I'm just watching the 4.00pm news and the damage on the western side of the Hawkesbury is just heartbreaking. I was meant to go and see a friend down at Brooklyn on the Hawkesbury, I think I'll call her and cancel. Love Chri

I am so sorry Chris. I wish we could store that water for the fires in California. The weather has not been kind lately. Everywhere it seem to cause more destruction then before. . My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Hopefully the rain will cease for the whole region.

Hi Angie, yes, the weather around the world is certainly changing. Who said there is no climate change, has rocks in their head, there definitely is!!!!
Thanks for your prayers, our farmers and produce workers are really feeling it. Food deliveries, medicines, dental work etc. in some places can't be accessed.
There was 94mm in Tibooburra, Sydney's suburb of Penrith had 88mm. The 4 day totals up at Comboyne had 853mm over that period! These are all towns up the coast. Love Chris

Hi Mary, thanks for that. I am so heartbroken about the north coast and further afield. Inland is just as bad, but some of those country towns haven't had rain for years, so it's either a feast or a famine, isn't it? Love Chris

Thanks Sarah, Mum’s place is on a high corner, so the rain runs down the street, but her patio out back often has water on it for hours until it can run away. Love Chris

Thanks Suzanne, it’s been glorious the past 3 days! The cleanup had begun with people up and down the coastal rivers. Now some sewage tanks have overflown and people have to be moved. One thing leads to another!! Love Chris

Whether it is flood or drought, it is an awful situation, isn't it. I'm so glad Trevor prepped the house and you are well prepared. I'm grateful you are not taking chances and trying to get through the flooded roads.

What a horrible thing to have to deal with! Reminds me of an old saying that I haven't thought about for years, "it never rains but it pours." Australia has had more than its share of horrible emergencies. Trev sure thought ahead!

I've been following the news showing the floods and the vast damage made by the "rain bomb" and so many people had to evacuate their homes and lost all their possessions. It's awful. I was thinking about you and am glad that you and your family are fine. You are lucky to have two capable men in your family and wish the best to you and all your family.
Hugs, Lidia
