Decided I needed a bright and cheery tea towel for tomorrow, but didn't want to go "Easter" so I can use this for quite some time...I used the free Birdhouse alphabet file, but modified it to remove the alphabet, add my own oval applique and quilting design and the lettering... Because the towel was striped, I didn't think just the design would look very nice... I think it came out quite nice on the oval applique. Also, I just hooped the towel and did not use any stabilizer...game changer especially when using a background quilting pattern...stabilizer does not look very nice on the back when the quilting stitches over the stabilizer....

You definitely accomplished what your plan was. I would have never thought of not using stabilizer. Learned something new. Thw quilted oval really lets the design shine. Great job.

I love this and novel idea to do this without stabilizer. Next time I do a towel for my daughter in law or granddaughters I will have to remember this---daughter in law says towels are stiff in embroidered area so this should do the trick. Great idea plan, Kim.
