Ricky I looked at some of my designer fabric, & couldn't find anything on the selvages that said anything about copyrights. You should b able to find something on the computer about it though. try Ask.com or Ask Jeeves.com & I bet Australia has some sites u could go to that I don't know about to ask legal ques. Also have a question about the copyright regulation on wrapping paper. Forgot to include that in the question. could see no copyright thingy on it either. I have some cute alphas with teddy bears that I would like to digitize, from some wrapping paper. None of my designs on my web site are going to be sold, but they will be displayed. OK guys, solved the problem. These cats were designed by Loralie Harris and are called Lady Cats. She also digitized these and they are available on a CD.They are definitely copyrighted so I can't use them. Ricky.

Ricky, you got your answer about the Loralie Cats, and they are soooo cute!!! About copyrights, if you look at any coloring book you will find the material is copyright, usually it says on the covers or inside front cover. If you're going to digitize something to use just for yourself, or like on a baby onsie for a gift, you would probably not get in trouble over it, although it is still technically illegal. I would never digitize from coloring books to sell or even give away designs without contacting the author. Wrapping paper is a whole other matter. I just don't know how you would even find out the copyright on something like that, unless it's listed on the label. The Disney characters are always copyright, and no matter if someone is offering 'free' clipart, it's pirated and should not be used. Disney will prosecute, believe me. And I would be very suspicious of anyone selling Disney or NFL or Nascar designs, usually only a large company like Dakota can afford to get the rights to digitize these. If you're getting them for 7.95 for 25 designs, they're illegally done. Good luck, Ricky, hope this helps, and I like your website. Digitizing is such fun, but we really have to be careful nowadays. I just had a look at Loralies website, WOW is all I can say, see has a great range of embroidery designs, all beautifully done, even if a tad expensive, well worth the time to browse, and download a few freebiees, whist having a coffee break
