Hi Cuties, I've just posted this on Facebook and to save me time I've copied it on here.
Talk about a fun adventure. You won't believe what happened.
We were just about to land I was in seat 4A near the wing and the next minute the plane did a massive upward surge and we were off. Apparently Queenstown has dreadful tail winds and the pilot didn't want to risk it, so we went to Christchurch. We arrived and as we were near the front of the plane got through everything really quickly and onto a shuttle bus, to a motel for dinner, overnight stay and breakfast, for which the airline are paying. We have a flight at 3.00 and there are others on different flights, so the shuttle bus is picking everyone up at 8.00. We aren't going to do that and sit at the airport for 7 hours, so Trev's going down tomorrow morning and letting them know we'll catch a taxi out at 1.30 to catch our plane.
We can then take our time tomorrow morning and check things out here in Christchurch. It's 7.00pm New Zealand time and of course it's pitch black. I'll keep you posted.
I've taken some lovely shots of coming in to Queenstown from my airplane window but to top things off I've used up all my credit on my Iphone and so will need to recharge it and I'll get some gigabytes whilst we are here tomorrow, Love Chris
However something you should not miss visiting is the Cardboard Church which is the temporary church for the Cathedral whilst it is waiting to be rebuilt - it's amazing. Have a wonderful time, I was in Christchurch and then Queenstown (visiting family in both cases) and so enjoyed all the cities had to offer. Hugs Lynne
