Why do we take on projects we shouldn't? It's so self-defeating. I remember the extremely stretchy high pile blanket a friend insisted I embroider with the name of a new baby in the church. That was a big lesson in saying no. Today it is high humidity and almost ninety degrees, yet I decided I could not wait any longer to dig in on revamping part of the basement. Big mistake. My former Girl Scout leader used to tell her daughter, "If you won't learn, then you'll have to hurt."

People get mad if I say NO. I started giving the answer I will put it on my list-------it will be done in about 25-30 years. Not enough time in the day to do all I want to do just for the fun of doing it---let alone trying to do things others want done that I don't have time and/or desire to do. Keep safe and GOD bless you!!!!!!

I think all of us here have wished we had said no to a piece of work we have been landed with. I do have to say that in getting older I am finding I say no more often

Only Family members are allowed requests.
I love the creative process of it and very rarely do I get to keep anything for myself. That is different, because I willingly give it away.
I was really insulted once (in my yarn shop when someone wanted me to fix a mistake she made with yarn bought some where else. I was always willing to do so hoping they would be future customers. This one however told me that I had nothings else to do anyway.

I would have grabbed a clipboard and started pretending to take inventory.

I am saying no to taking on any jobs for friends etc. Just is not worth it.

The fine line of wanting to help vs being taken advantage of.
