Update Monday below :
Hello Cuties! Ida is coming! Everyone is either trying to leave or prepare. Hurricanes are to be feared and respected. Laura hit as a Cat4 on August 27 and left so much destruction, just one year ago, people are still trying to recover. We should be safe from rising water. It’s the winds that can destroy homes or down trees, from so much sodden soil, from the rain water it brings that will be our concern.
Then the aftermath to deal with from all the property destruction and power lines down. Not too mention Covid is so rampant and people have to get out.
Needless to say we appreciate all prayers for anyone in the path of this huge storm. Our weathermen, linemen, rescue workers, law enforcement all need our prayers as they help those in need.
Ida will come in sometime tomorrow and tomorrow night, they predict. We will lose power, but as soon as I can, I will let you know how we did. Take care and stay well my friends. Love you all!-Toogie
Hurricane Rita Cat3 (1200 deaths) about 3 weeks after Katrina Cat 5 over 1800 deaths ( more never accounted for) -Rita damaged our daughters house but they had evacuated. Pictures were on Facebook of people evacuating last night and today ( I’m not on Facebook, daughter is)
At some point before landfall, all northbound & southbound interstate roads in south were opened to only north traffic as NO ONE was allowed to travel south. I think this was done for Laura, not sure about others
Update- Thankfully we are good. Surprisingly we still have power at this time. The winds are still blowing so I may yet lose it because power company just keeps resplicing my line. The storm curved to the east mote than the projectery and spared us anything bad. I’m sorry for our easterly neighbors and hope they were prepared. With these storms you have to be. We have other family we need to try and contact to see how they did. I couldn’t reach my husbands sister last night and I know it wasn’t supposed to be good for them. I am sure my kids are ok but I haven’t spoke to any of them today. I just went to bed 3 hours ago and am only up because my phone has been ringing.-lol- thank all of you for prayers- keep them coming as I know our people here need them still. People are trapped in attics that couldn’t leave for whatever reason and so other people are risking their lives to rescue them. Also there is a tugboat that sank with men on board. Pray for that crew. We heard some were trying to hang onto a concrete piling under a dock but only by the grace of God they will make it. We know that can happen though so prayers that they hung on.
I will try to tell you more as I discover. Again thank our Father for hearing your prayers for us.
Thanks for the prayers for our state and those affected with Covid. We need and appreciate them. Lindsay's funeral was today and as bad as the storm coming, Carol's life has been a storm for weeks now, losing her husband and her daughter within the same week. Pray for my friend please.
God bless you all, and please let her know that she has people all around the world praying for her to have peace and love surrounding her, love Chris
No, it hasn't flown by yet and hurricanes don't fly by like a tornado. They have large bands of winds and rain that last a good while, then calm when you are in the eye, then winds and rains again moving away slowly. The winds blow hard in a circular fashion, but the whole huge thing may move slow. I hate to feel and hear the wind gust. People have reported seeing the windows or doors 'breathing', it is such pressure. It will be a sleepless night tonight as we await Ida.
One of the forecasters/meteorologist apologized for being 50 miles off course. I’m glad he was for us, but feel really bad for others. His prediction may have been correct with his instruments, but we know God has control of the winds and can change any situation. We were told unofficially there is another storm coming now but we are hoping it will die down before it does any damage anywhere.
