I've wondered what has been going on with you. My prayers are going up.

Oh toogie, I sincerely hope not. It is so painful! I had in Aug last yr..dr said trauma can bring it on. I had just found my best friend dead in her bathrm. ASAP, I got the shot..$150, and returned 3 times for the second shot, but was told each time the serum was not available. Finally this past May I had to start all over..the cost had gone to $175. I assure you, it would be worth $1,000. Not to have shingles again. It settled in neck and shoulder where I had had surgery..that made it worse. I was in terrible pain for several wks. I pray you have a light case, if it is diagnosed. Better still, I pray it will not be shingles. Good luck!

Toogie, I had Shingles a month ago for the first time ever (back of my neck and my left ear). I send you my best and hope it is just a rash. Take whatever meds they decided you need!!!! My doctor had my husband pick up a cream from a Compound Pharmacy. Insurance wouldn't pay for it - but, it helped me a bunch and it was worth every penny! Make sure you get extra rest - I was very tired and that surprised me. I will be getting the shingle shot soon!! Bunches of hugs to you!!

I hope it is not Shingles. I have never had Shingles but has seen plenty of people with it. Praying for you!

Hi all you other Cuties reading this. If you ever had chicken pox, you are set up to get shingles, so go get that vaccine now, before the pain begins. I think my insurance paid for it all after a certain age, but worth getting it even if you have to pay before then, because I certainly got shingles before then! If it gets near and in your eyes, you can go blind. Now, really, go get that shot!

From having had it I sincerely hope that you dont have it. Look forwards to a update that I hope is positive. Had the vaccination a couple of weeks ago. What with the Covid, flu and shingles jabs my arms are feeling like a pincushion

Toogie I am so sorry to hear your update and that you do have shingles. It is painful but you will get over it. Life recently for you doesnt sound as if its been the best for you and shingles happens. Take care and let others look after you and try not to worry. Thanks goodness you have some medication. I was just prescribed paracetamol and ibuprofen.

Sorry you are in pain but as others have said get the vaccination as soon as you can.

My son got Shingles as a teenager from Exam stress and is now 50 and hasn't had any relapses. Trying to convince him to get Vac.

Darn it. I so hoped it would not be shingles. It reminded me that I have to get my 2nd vaccine for shingles. I had the first one and when the second one became available Covid hit and I did not want to go to any medical facility. A few month ago I did get shingles but it was fairly mild.
Toogie I pray that the nerve pain will not be permanent and that the meds will make it a bit more tolerable.

Toogie, I'm so sorry. It is a lot to deal with. When you have no more energy for cutting quilts, find a good book and read till you fall asleep! Bad news, you now have two medical reasons to stay in the house. (Covid and shingles.) Good news, do what you wanted to when younger, go braless!! Hoping that made you laugh at least a bit. B

Sorry you are having to deal with this and praying that the medicine will give you relief. If it makes you sleep that is probably good for helping your body become stronger again.
I don't know how long shingles last but hopefully not long.

Toogie, so sorry for all you are going through with this. It is a terrible thing to have and the pain is what got me. The nerve pain us the worst I think , and thankful that they were able to give you something for that.

So sorry to hear this, Toogie....I have known friends who got this and that scared me into getting the vaccine, so hopefully won't have to suffer like you are....I feel so badly for you!!!

I'm sorry that you are having so much pain. The people I've know to have had it said the same things you say. Can a topical med stop the itching? I did not know that nerve pain could last forever. I got the shot to prevent shingles years ago. I'd recommend it to everyone.

So sorry to hear you have shingles, Toogie... anyone that has had the chicken pox has a higher risk of getting shingles as it is the same virus... I am grateful that we got the vaccine as soon as we were eligible...

Oh Toogie, I am so sorry to hear that you have shingles. My DH had it several years ago. He was miserable. He also made me get the vaccine as soon as I was eligible. You will be in my prayers that you will find relief.

I feel for you toogie. Hope your symptoms do not last long and the medicines alleviate your discomfort very quickly.

My Dr. has suggested that I get the Shingrix vaccination soon even though I had a different one years ago. Shingles is caused by the varicella-zoster virus, the same virus that causes chickenpox. Both diseases can be prevented through vaccination.

Sorry you have to go through this awful virus. After reading the posts I am going to get the vaccine, I think I will need the booster because years ago I got the original vaccine. I hope you get relief soon. Prayers.

I am sorry you got this.My grandma suffered from it many moons ago. It's rarely heard of here nowadays and I did not even know a vaccine exists.

I Toogie, I'm so sorry you have Shingles! It is awful, I had it right after Ben died. I couldn't do anything about it. The pain was so severe and so deep. I had had a vaccine, and I got it anyway, but they said I had a very light case! Get well soon!
