Yahoo! The time has finally come - the family moved out over the weekend!!

Its only been 13 months and WOW! their home is gorgeous.

Steve did all the stairs himself and has done a brilliant job in my eyes. He saved all the bearers and joists plus any old wood he could from their original Miner's cottage (120 year old Tallowwood) and has reused it in their new home.

The kitchen is a dream, the tiler has done an awesome job on all the tiles (all greens and soft greys, with darker tones of green) and the carpenters on their massive front door The door as you can see in the picture isn't finished off. They put it in on Friday and the builder and carpenter came back this morning (it's now Monday evening as I write this) to put back all the cladding around the door frame etc.

The pool has been emptied 3 times this year alone as we have had such a wet year. It should be finished by the end of the year, well that's what the pool guy said!!

Amy and I have been moving stuff over for the past couple of weeks, so she just has some clothes (mostly long dresses etc.) to pick up. Her wardrobes will be going in next week, so she is using cardboard boxes with a metal rod which holds coat-hangers to hang your clothes up on.

I'll add some pictures - they are just so happy to be finally in their new home. Love Chris

Thanks Toogie, Trev actually came up the stairs this morning and said -
"How good is it to sleep in my own bed again!!!"
The house is lovely and quiet once again. The kids are ecstatic to finally be in their new home. Love Chris

Oh my!!!! What a beautiful home they have created. They can now add a lifetime of memories of living to their catalog of building memories. And now I understand why you have been so quiet the past couple of weeks. I know you are all going to quickly adjust to your new lives and have a very Merry Christmas.

Hi Karen, it's been crazy here and what with me trying to finish my quilt, looking after Mum and trying to keep our place 'tidy' as possible, it's been hectic. Trev and I are off to Melbourn, Victoria tomorrow for a 5 day break. Looking forward to it. Love Chris

Chris it's a lovely home with some beautiful and unique features I would guess hundreds of hours were spent planning it all. I'm sure they will all build some wonderful new memories to add to their treasure chest.
Wishing you all a happy and joyous Christmas.

Hi Lynne, yes, it's been their dream for the past few years. Months of planning and getting approval from the Newcastle City Council, then builders and getting things organised. We had torrential rain at the beginning of this year, Covid issues, sickness of the tradies etc. etc. etc. Building a new home always has issues!!!!! Thanks for your Christmas wishes. The same to you too, love Chris

Really swoozie and my favorite thing is still that floating staircase! Shakespeare would say, all's well that ends well. Congratulations all the way around for all the reasons everyone is celebrating. I think you should wait a few months and tell her you're coming to live with them while you re-do your house. Do you swim? That pool will be a luxury item.

Thanks Betsey, I love the staircase too, but don't like going up and down them so much. I was up there so many times whilst we were moving things in. I love swimming, and intend to be in there a lot during our summer. Love Chris

Yes, it is beautiful and so light and airy. I think they'll find it hot during summer with all those skylights though, but they have air conditioning too and lots of air flow. Amy has put the Christmas tree up in the corner of their lounge room and it looks lovely. Love Chris
