Good morning Cuties! I wanted to show you this because it is a quilt I have been wanting to make. I realize I seem to show a lot of quilts but this one seemed to come out so well, even I am surprised. -lol- You start with 20 colors and make strip sets, that you then subcut into various widths. When I asked our QOV leader if we had 20 different fabrics she said certainly and gladly provided them to me. Although, she did think I was crazy and told me so-lol-for attempting this. She said another quilter tried it years ago and it took her years to complete. Well I agree at times I might seem crazy🙄😉 but by sticking with it, I made it in less than a week. I did have to number and lay everything out as I cut so it didn’t get confusing. I also was uncertain of my placement of colors as I didn’t know which order was best. I will show the strip set that I made 4 of for this size of 57x73. I will also have to get a dark blue fabric, to add a 4 inch border all around, to bring it up to size we give.

I made this from a book by Eileen Wright, called More Twist and Turn Bargello Quilts. This particular pattern is Misty Morning. Although I understood the concept of Bargello’s and have made runners before, I really desired to make this in red, white and blue because it looks like it’s waving. I also think it would be gorgeous in blues like a waterfall. So many possibilities! By the way, I sent our leader a picture of this top and she exclaimed “Oh my word…how BEAUTIFUL!!!!” She also said how can I give someone something this beautiful after I’ve made it!? The veterans receiving it have given us something much more precious, so it’s easy for me and wish I could do more. I hope you feel my excitement at trying something new and still enjoy my quilt shows-lol Have a blessed day my Cuties❤️Toogie

Great to see you comment! I’m glad you like it but had to laugh when you thought it was crochet. I have seen crochet thinking it was quilting so we are even. You can now laugh at me😂 Thanks for looking

Hi Carolyn, ooh! this is absolutely stunning. I'd love to keep this one, but I know your passion for the QOV's and I bet there will be lots of broken hearts when there is more than one veteran who might want this. Stunning work, once again. Love Chri

Hi Chris, I am assuming you’re speaking to me, Toogie. Lol- My leader said as much too, how could I give away? I know I can always make another if I do desire. I like the challenge of trying something different. Thanks for looking, commenting. I hope you are getting the help with your mum, you so desperately need. ❤️Toogie

Beautiful!!Your red, white and blue is perfect for a QOV. You should try an all blue, I did one with blue batiks because I wanted a quilt that looks like Lake Michigan. They are amazing to see the design emerging, aren't they?

Beautiful. It reminds me of a flag waving in the wind. The placement is perfect. I have been wanting to make a similar quilt, at this time I am chicken.

I just finished a second one yesterday. I had to make it exactly like this one because I had already made one strip set. The pattern said to make 5 (20 strips) sets. It only took 4 so instead of ripping out or wasting, I made 3 more sets for a second one. Once you learn the process and reading the graphs, it’s really very easy. Don’t be scared. I was mostly concerned with color placement because I wasn’t sure how they would fall in the design. Each set has to be in the same order as the first before you start cutting again.

Here were my 5 strips sets I made, but I only used 4 for each quilt top. Twenty different color strips arranged the same order in each set.
First one with border added
Second one on top queen bed

You would find it hard to believe if I told you 4 days, so I’m not saying-lol Thanks
My group was speechless to see I made 5 (60x80) quilt tops since our last meeting. We meet every 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month. Our last meeting was June 23 and we met July 14, so a 3 week span.

Thank you Anita. Some people are good to come up with these patterns and thank goodness, if I can't figure it out by looking at the picture, I can still read and follow a pattern. Did you see the pictures I added below? I put the border on after getting enough of the dark blue fabric, so now I have made two of these quilts, but just alike.

Thank you Brenda. I say go for it! If you can read a graph the rest is easy, not as hard as you might think. Did you look below? I added a border.

The graphic design of this quilt really kept me intrigued with it for quite a while. I can see where having a system to keep track of it all is a "must do" to get such a brilliant creation! Love it!

I’m glad you like it. It’s finished except for the binding. I’m anxious to see how the quilter quilted it. I am supposed to get it Thursday if my back is better to go pick it up.
