We went on a road trip to the Grand Canyon. I wanted to make an unique tote bag of the places we have visited and loved before. Some of the designs I had purchased, but the designs for the Grand Canyon, Mesa Verde, Royal Gorge, 4 corners, Grand Lake and Rocky Mountain National park are ones I designed from my own photographs. I used some heavy duty black fabric for the bottom and top band. I tried to keep it as light as possible so I only quilted the front and back and to pre-washed flannel. It was fun to make, took forever to do all the squares. The front has more of the national parks and attractions, while the back has more personal places from our own trips. I found this really neat fabric of road trips and matching license plate fabrics I used for the lining and large pocket. It's not perfect, but it came pretty close to what I had hoped.

Jan this is stunning work and must have taken you ages to create but well worth the time you put in to it. Now enjoy using it and remembering your great journey. 20 out of 10 for your work

Thanks so much, Making each design took from 2-4 hours and then there was the stitching. But, sometimes it's just fun taking time to do what you imagine. Thanks for the 20!

What wonderful memories you must have from your trips. I think you had a good idea to make this bag and it came out great. I hope you have many more trips and memories to make.

Thank, Karen, I have a feeling this will be our last big trip. Willie has Parkinson's and he's going downhill with the physical things. I think we'll probably do some day trips through. Do you get away much?

I was really wondering if I would actually get it finished in time. I had other things I should have been doing, but mostly I was so excited to go, I just kept thinking or that. Thanks

Totally awesome bag! I'd love to do something like that, but first, I need to do the traveling which I would also love to do. I love the fabric too.

Thanks, the back has mostly local places, that didn't take much traveling. Some to those places were 30 years ago. It was fun and I really could have included even more.

Thanks,Chris, it really was an amazing trip. The drive was as much fun as the Grand Canyon. Beautiful things around every bend. We traveled through three Indian reservations and that was interesting too. We at at a Navajo trading post and had huge Navajo tacos.

Thanks, Christine, Lemon Drop is the name of the BX font for Embrilliance. Mesa Verde was one of the hardest, but the hardest was Royal Gorge, trying to get that line to look like a bridge. Let me know if you'd like to use them. I have a neat appliqué of Colorado too. It took me a while to learn Embrilliance, and I'm still learning, but I'm finally at the point where I can almost everything I want .

Thanks, Toogie, It means a lot coming from you! It was fun and a challenge, but I just don't make things for myself.
