I am very sorry for your loss. When a loss is sudden, you add shock to the grief. It has to be overwhelming to also have to deal with arrangements, whether it be financial or services, when you head is spinning and your heart is broken. I'm so sorry for your loss. I lost my dear Charles suddenly, too, and it feels like a ton of grief all at once. Those who have a bad diagnosis have time to begin grieving the possibilities, though no one is prepared for the actual separation from a loved one. Be kind to yourself and be patient with this new person you suddenly need to be, alone and strong. Receive all the love you can from those around you and let them support your efforts to face the new life and eventually embrace it. If people say unhelpful words, just realize that few of us know how to be helpful to a grieving person. There will be memories of him that you treasure and, at least for me, there were memories of the time of grieving that I now treasure. The food, the hugs, the kind words, the lady who came and sat quietly with me the day after the death. As Mr. Rogers always said, in times of trouble and danger, look around you for the helpers! I imagine myself giving you a hug. The days get easier eventually.
