Two Nickels and Five Pennies

When an ice cream sundae cost much less, a boy entered a coffee shop and sat at a table. A waitress put a glass of water in front of him. "How much is an ice cream sundae?"

"Fifty cents," replied the waitress.

The little boy pulled his hand out of his pocket and studied a number of coins in it. "How much is a dish of plain ice cream?" he inquired.

Some people were now waiting for a table, and the waitress was impatient. "Thirty-five cents," she said angrily.

The little boy again counted the coins. "I'll have the plain ice cream."

The waitress brought the ice cream and walked away. The boy finished, paid the cashier, and departed. When the waitress came back, she swallowed hard at what she saw. There, placed neatly beside the empty dish, were two nickels and five pennies--her tip.

you deserve a bunch of flowers marymoore, its really heartbreaking sometimes isnt it? I was a preschool teacher for 11yrs and met kids with all kinds of problems, in the end I couldn't take it any longer so when I married my hubby and came to Germany I decided for a carreer change, trouble is I'm still looking for a job :(

mm God BLESS you that touched my heart. I work in the community and many I come in contact with is less fortunate than others. Many times when I use to visit the school to eat and a child asked me did I want something off of my plate I would give it to them. ;) *2U anna we have to be conditioned in our life for the many things we go through for example I have ministered to others in the hospital but I cannot take seeing blood so I am not conditioned for the blood ;) Children are our future and it takes a village to help ;)
