I did a properties scan of my embroidery file it has 4GB, that is over 70,000 files. Of course in all fairness to me that does include instructions and color charts on some designs.

Noooo way,too many to count. I am trying to get them all organized now tho and that's a tedious job. My tip to new folks would be to have a category for all your files and be very specific as they accummulate over time.Example not 1 file for all animals 1 file for each type like bird, bears, dogs, ect

The more catagories the better because they fill up fast and then it is over- welling.
by mad14kt 30 Jul 2008
WOW...yes they do fill up fast ;) *2U

That is what I need to do ORGANIZE! I'm so far behind I don't even have 50% unzipped! Wish I could push a button and the computer would do it for me lol. * 4 all
by elaine45 30 Jul 2008
A very god ides. Mine are some what organized like that but they could use some refining. I plan to do that soon...just hope I don't miss any really cute designs while I am doing it.
by mad14kt 30 Jul 2008
misc I wish I could do that too. I just need to convert some of them...yuck ;) Elaine you are an OD member...LOL you hate to miss a design ;)
by mops 30 Jul 2008
I have not unzipped all, not by a long shot, but I did file them away more or less sensibly. So I can unzipped the lot per category. But then I'll have to sort out all the formats I don't use and throw those out.. Oh dear..

Haven't done much yet, just collecting so far. Keep telling myself one of these days I will be caught up with my other sewing and maybe make a baby quilt, funny how the days flit by and never seem to catch up. Thought I would have so much time on my hands when I retired....HAHA...not sure how I found time to go work...*back2U

Fabric I couldn't hide like I desired but designs you can. My family & friends you to say you bought more fabric. I said, "I was walking by it and it called my name and I had to answer." Now if I can only figure out an excuse for the designs...ummm ;* ;)

I too have way too many designs, I started by putting them into files like animals until the file was so big I had to go through it and break out each type, same with other files, I try to do it when I have time (and now when I save a design I put it into the correct file) but it is very time consuming. Just like MissCharlie I wish I could just push a button and have it all done. Bottom line though, I love all the designs :) I would love to give you a flower, but I don't know how, sorry

Darling, let me know how to mail to you. I have fabric stash enough for all and still buy more. That doesn't mean I have money because I don't. It means I have been a fabricaholic for 40 years. Seriously, I would love to share. E-mail me and give me you mailing address. E-Mail is kayj7272@yahoo.com

Mariahail I am a crocheter mostly, just got the bug for embroidery a few months ago. If you could use yarn I have ooodles of it and you are more than welcome to some. I am sure I will start a stock pile of fabric soon enough, otherwise out Walmart has fabric on clearance for $1 a yard I could afford to help you make gifts for your family. My email is in my profile. *

Monica, what a question to ask an embroiderer. I will never tell - even if I knew - I don't even know how many categories I have - there are too many to count. I love my designs and I will not stop buying or downloading them - because I have too many - I wouldn't ever be able to stitch them all out - but that will not stop me from trying - as you all know - I do my fair share of stitching them, too! My passion is embroidery! Hehehe!

who has time to count? Far too busy amassing the collection. Sometimes they might even get stitched out. LOL. Still, keeps me from collecting too much fabric, at least designs don't take up quite as much space.

Lets see, I've got a small, altho quite pretty, fabric stash and my patterns are all on an extra drive in the 'puter and reckon I have about 2500. I have been getting selective tho, at first grabbed everything free, then decided to only get what I really liked, have also bought quite a few, ebay and direct. Good thing tho, I've got all these disney designs that I bought and now you can't seem to find them. I have zillions of alphabets and use them to make baby quilts, they turn out adorable. I'll try to post them sometime when dh can help.
