BoneHead, I don't know about others, but I keep mine in a plastic drawer unit that sits right beside my EMB machine. It has 3 drawers and they ary just high enough to stand up the thread spools, and I sort by color, light to darker. *2U, Gramsbear, and I almost forgot, Welcome to Cute, If you enjoy being a part of this as much as I do, you will really like this site.

Welcome Bonehead, You will love this site. Everyone is so helpful and don't worry if you think the question is stupid. I have already asked most of them. I store my threads in plastic drawers next to machine. If the spool has the rim at bottom to catch the end of thread, i use it, if not I use Hugo's amazing clear plastic tape to secure the thread ends. Saves on tangles.

I have plastic draw that stack together and name the draws. Works pretty good keeping my thread together and waht kind it is. Welcome to Cute you will enjoy this site very much. A flower to you and all.

I use a clear plastic unit that I got from office depot and it sits beside my machine. It is 15 x 12.5 x 24 high and has 6 drawers.

Welcome again to the Cute Family. I keep my thread ends secured with Hugos amazing tape. and have Thread racks attached to a pegboard on the wall behind the embroidery Machine. A flower for you.

I use plastic bin units with drawers. I one or two color ranges per drawer. Most threads that I buy have a way to fasten the thread ends. Robinson-anton really works well.

Hello & welcome to the cute fmly You've gotten lots of answers. My DH made me a spool rack that is attached to the back of the door to sewing rm. It holds 200+ spools he made me a beautiful solid oak thread chest that holds several hundred spools It has 7 drawers & a lift up lid on top where I store bobbins & whatever Most of my spools have a place on them u slip the ends n plus I use netting over the spools & have also been known to cut strips of polyethelene U buy by the yd (a clear plastic & put around spool attaching with elastic band. You have lots of choices . I try to keep mine organized by colors light to dark but do not always do this, I get n a hurry. then about every 2 or 3 month set them right just to do it again LOL

I have a Madeira unit with 6 drawers and their whole range of colours (1000m spools, viscose/rayon)). And I have Marathon polyester, some 300 colours in cardboard boxes, that are waiting to be put in something more permanent. Both came with a colour chart, so I know exactly where each colour is.
