Remember that there are gazillions of people walking around with stents that they have had for years. Sounds a bit like maybe your hubby is trying to keep away the scary feelings with somewhat black humor. You have a lot of Cuties here to lean on who are thinking of you both and a lot of prayers being said on your behalf as well. Please keep us posted on what is happening, and feel free to post when you need someone to listen, a shoulder to lean on, or whatever. Love, Lois

Mary, thank you for the update and I want you to know - I have a friend that was about your husband's age - that had this same thing done - 20 years ago and he is still doing well - I think it is great that you hubby is making sure that you have things - that says a bunch on his part - but as you said - you only want and need him - that is how it really is - isn't it - we just need those that we love - now my eyes are leaking - I have to stop. I am happy that you did get the laptop to use - by the pool - you are living high on the hog - Hehehe!

Mary, my husband had a stent put in about 8 years ago and he is fit and well now. It is not too complex a procedure - they do an angiogram and he was awake and watched on the monitor as they did it. It has meant a few lifestyle changes - healthier eating and exercise. He also has to take medication for stress and cholestral, but these are minor things. I'm sure all go well with your DH and my thoughts and prayers are with your family

Hi Mary, I'm sending some Angels to watch over you and hubby especially. Just keep encouraging him to think and be positive. Stent surgeries these days are almost ("old hat") and far more common than you know. My DH has had his heart stopped and restarted several times to try to get the rhythm back to normal, i've had angio-grams for rapid heartbeat 132 bpm, but too early for me to have surgery. The heart is an amazing muscle and surgeons these days are absolutely brilliant, so please stay positive and let us know how things go. Love and prayers are with you. Meganne

Hello,my father in law did have 2 stents last year and he is feeling verry good again,he is fit and can do almost everything what he did before his heart was sick,the doctors know what they are doing they do this everyday,you have my prayers for your husband to get well soon,greetings connie

Mary, Your husband should be better than ever once he gets the stent put in. It keeps the affected artery open so that that part of the heart gets blood supply. As Shirley said, it's not a complex procedure, and he should feel a lot better after it's done. The two of you are in my prayers, and I know that all will be OK....Barb

Mary, as a surrogate mother to you, Pull yourself together! You have to be the strong one and keep things positive. He is having a relatively common procedure. It doesn't mean there is no risks, but it does mean that something doctors repeatedly do over and over and over they get very good at. Pray for him without ceasing and we will be in prayer for your entire family.;)

Oh!! sweetie you must be encouraging now. Positive attitude is important. So is exercise and healthy diet. My sweetie gave up "Wendy's" for lunch about 2 months ago and lost 10 pounds. He is eating corn on the cob, via the micro-wave, no butter or salt and an apple each day for lunch. Now, we need to work on breakfast and dinner next!!! I'll send you some tomatoes.

Mary my mother in law had a stint put in last year. She was in and out and up and about in just 2 days. has had to change diet but no big deal. To tell you the truth she is now more active than ever. My poor father in law can't keep up.lol

I'm sure it is a very scary thing for both of you. Keep positive. There are a lot of folks here that have you and your husband in their prayers. He is sure to feel much better after the operation. You have a special man there!

Mary I know you are both scared but keep a postive attitude for him .I have several friends who have had a stent and all are doing better than ever. Just know you have many sisters (and brother) saying prayers for both of you. You are both in out hearts. A flower for both of you. ( Enjoy the Laptop.)

I know that it is hard, but do try to keep a positive attitude. Be supportive of him, and if he wants to spoil you some, let him, but then see that he is well cared for. I have friends who have had stents and were back to work and better than ever. Enjoy you laptop - but by the pool? Quite the lady of leisure!

Well Mary all is going to be ok. With all these prayers you and hubby are going to be fine. Let him spoil you as that makes him happy but make sure you take good care of what he needs. All will end well I am sure. Prayers and all my love goes to you both.

No, seriously, Mary, he is understandably scared. Let him have his enjoyment by giving you things if you guys can afford it. It gives him pleasure. Wow, you've had a trying time! Tell him that we are praying for him, and that we will pray for his healing, so that he can be there with you and your children. It must be so scary going through something like that, but medicine has advanced so much, and God is good. May he recover quickly.

Hey Mary. My DH had that done about 5 years ago and is just fine. A friends DH had 2 and is also doing fine. A change in diet and a bit of exercise and I'm sure your DH will be right as rain. The pool is just what he needs. Sounds like you could use a day or 2 of floating around too. Take care friend. It does get better.

Hy Mary, my husband had two place Sept 2001, is perfectly OK, cycles anywhere in a 25 km radius instead of using the car, swims a mile a day (takes him 25 min) and is 71. Although he did everything our doctor said to tell his patient, the arteries were collapsed a bit, not clogged up. Operation takes little time, stay in hospital was one night and that was it. So cheer your husband up, he might still live to be a hundred!
