When I have done a towel pull away as much as i can then I have a spray bottle of water and have it on fine mist.Then gently dab away the rest after spraying with a clean dry wash cloth.

Have not used any heat and gone stabilizer, but you can just lay adamp cloth over the WSS and should work fine to get the stabilizer off. I usually do not like washing the embroidered item unless completely necesary;but that is just matter of preferences. *2U

Kay I never wash new items unless I just have to. I use a damp cloth and everything is fine. A flower for you.

I do lots of towels & usually pull away what I can, then also "dab" at it with a wet rag until it's gone. But it usually just pulls away. I DO wash the towels before I embroider them. (And what a mess of lint in my dryer!) I tell the people I have washed & machine dried them, so they can do so, but NO bleach! If you don't wash them, sometimes they do draw up some & the embroidery doesn't!

A little trick I saw on Sick's newsletter, keep your empty deodorant roll-on, remove the ball and wash it out, then fill with water, refit the ball and use to remove WSS from items you don't want to completely wash.
I haven't tried it.
I like to wash the towels and use lovely apple fabric softener to make them lovely and fluffy and smell fresh too. hugs n roses, M

I have used the HeatnGone. It won't ruin your iron. Leaves no residue. I like it.

I wash all items before I embroider on them (less chance of shrinking fabric and bubbling embroidery), I don't buy dry cleanable stuff.

With towels, I always wash before and after stitching. Linens, I will iron with a little spray starch which gives it that once again new look. Ultimately, do it different ways until you come up with "your way." Your gift will always be from your heart and that's what really counts, isn't it?

I haven't used that Heat N Gone. It just looks like a mess to me. I hate cleaning and I'll do anything to keep cleaning chores down to a minimum. lol *4U

I have a qn to ride on, for those using dissolve solvent? do u put it on top and below the towel? Or just on top of towel is fine? Thanks!

Re the Floriani Heat N Gone: I was at a Floriani seminar, saw this used as a topping on towels instead of WSS. The Heat N Gone keeps the loops down permanently, as it doesn't wash out. I have used this, even using my Rowenta iron (I held my breath, believe me) and when they say "gone" they mean "gone"! No gummy stuff or anything on the iron. You just tear away the excess, and it's so thin it mostly tears away. Then just touch the iron to whatever little bits are left, and poof, all gone! And really, no mess on the iron. I love the stuff. I wash and dry mine. That way I know how it will look afterwards.

I just found the heat and gone too. have not tried it yet, but have quite a few towels to do for Christmas. This is a great site to learn things on.

I pull away what I can and sponge off the rest with a warm damp cloth

I keep a spray bottle with distilled water at hand. I "spritz" my WSS bits after I have removed as much as I can. Comes out fine.
