I should be making bags too. Here in San Francisco, they have stopped plastic bags and are pushing fabric bags. I would rather make them than buy them. I like your design. I've been thinking of making them with adjustable straps so that they can be carried by shoulder as well as carried by hand. That way I could carry twice as many groceries. Or, is that a dumb thought? I really don't know.

Most supermarkets are stopping plastic bags here too. I make the straps 24 inches
