Has anyone had any problems with joining a yahoo group? I would love to join for the iced iris font but my computer warns against it. I am not sure why. My computer runs on Vista.

I have not had any problems with the ones I am member of, but that one is not one of my groups.

I hope there isn't anything wrong with the group. I had decided that I didn't want to collect that alphabet so I didn't try to join that group. If my computer warned me, then I wouldn't join.

It is such a dilema. the iced iris alphabet is so beautiful. It reminds me of my mothers garden. There again I am trying to decide if it is practical. I guess I will decide another day.

I just tried and had no warning message come up. I don't know if Yahoo Groups are overseen by Yahoo but would think they wouldn't last long if Yahoo received complaints about certain groups. Hugs, Meganne

It wouldn't be Vista issuing the warning it would be you anti virus protection. There are many AV programs that give false positives, AVG is notorius for it. I would imagine that if it is a group you have seen other members mention or that has come from a reputable site like amazing designs, sew forum etc it will be ok. If it is a site like the list on sew forum steer clear.

I have XP, not Vista, and Macafee virus protection. I haven't had any problems with the Yahoo embroidery groups I have joined. When you say the computer is warning against it, what does it say? My Macafee will say something like "this site has been reported for lots of unwanted e-mails" or "this site is a reported phishing site". Use good sense, if it's a dangerous report like phishing, don't go there. But I sometimes wonder if some otherwise good Yahoo groups don't get reported for unwanted mail just because people don't know how to use the settings in the group membership. If it's a reputable group, I wouldn't worry too much. Set up a different mail address just for embroidery groups mailings, then you won't have them in your regular e-mail. If you're still concerned, stop and think about what you're going to actually use that freebie for, or are you just collecting it to collect. If the latter, don't get so obsessed collecting that you step on quicksand. If it worries you, don't do it. Best of luck, Marji
