I have noticed from time to time cuties give the advice to slow down the machine for certain projects. How do you slow down the machine? I got my owners manual out and it is not listed at all.

There is a lever but it only works while sewing not when the embroidery unit is attached.
That should work on both accounts....mine does.

What kind of machine do you have? Mine is Janome 300E. If we have the same machine I can help you. It does help to slow it down if you are doing a lot of fine details.

How does it slow down? I'm using Janome Memory Craft 9700. Its similar to 350E/300E too for the embroidery. There's a speed slider button but i was told that its not computerised to work for the embroidery. Its only for sewing part (for my 9700). Thanks
This works for mine. When you turn on your machine, it says mode on the bottom left. Press mode, then set, then press the arrow to the right and the speed is on that screen.

It depends of the machine that you have, not all machines have a speed control so most than likely your does not have that feature. What machine do you have?

I have an Escante and I can not slow it down. Wish I had that feature. To compensate, I stop and start the pattern when I feel it is stitching to fast because it starts slow and builds up speed.

Mine only starts slow for about the first 6 stitches then she goes like a demon. Was thinking if I could slow it down I may be able to use a certain thread the machine doesn't like. Oh well such is life, another thing to add to the list of what features my next machine will have.

If your machine does have not a manual speed control indicator then just adjust your foot pressure so the machine runs slowly. Perhaps this will not work for your embroidery site. Mine (Viking SE) works on both sewing and embroidery.

It depends on the machine. My old Brother Galaxy and the Husqvarna Iris have no way to slow down, as you can't use the food pedal while embroidering. The Brother D190Disney, which is a stand-alone, does not even have a foot pedal and no speed control button. But the Husqvarna Designer I has a speed control button and the pedal can be used if wished. So you see there's no general rule.

I have the designer 1 by husqvarna and it has a speed control button right on the face, you can slow down or speed up either embroidery or regular sewing. It comes in handy when trying to use those darn metallic threads.
