I was wondering if any digitizers could digitize this painting

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flaming_June
and how much they would charge me to do it? It is my oldest daughter's favorite.

I don't think we would be allowed to copy it.....
Public domain This work is in the public domain in the United States, and those countries with a copyright term of life of the author plus 100 years or fewer.

Not that I know much about copyright laws, but is it not 50-100 years after death? He died in 1896, making the 100 years expire in 1996...

The new law in Australia is 90 years after death. Rereading the statement, (now that I am awake, hehehe) I think it is OK, if someone is game enough to tackle it. It looks complicated.

Oh, isn't she beautiful! It would be an incredible amount of work to do this justice, I think. And even then, as an art lover, I don't think it could be done. If you want this for a tee shirt or something, could you print out a high-res picture onto transfer material & iron it on? I'm assuming what Ricky says is right about the copyright. Best of luck, Marji

I thought it would be very sentimental for Tatum and a great surprise! *

This is a very beautiful picture. I have to agree to the difficulty in capturing the surreal look of this type of work in standard machine embroidery. The best "art work" I have seen digitized is in multi-color picture stitch at www.advanced-embroidery-designs.com. I do not know if they do special requests or what it would cost. I would certainly love to have their program and talent!!

May I suggest doing this in cross-stitch? There are
plenty of cross stitch charts on Ebay, and the pictures of the finished cross-stitch look lovely. My son used to design cross stitch charts, and Flaming June was one of
them. I would say this way is preferable to digitizing.

Before machine embroidery, I did several cross stitch pictures of famous paintings. They are exquisite. Don't know about this specific one, but some had 50+ different colors, but I love them!

Charlie, if you're going to do it that large size, it could be done like a 'window'. BFC Creations has some really exquisite windows designs. Wonder if their digitizers would be interested in tackling this, then they could sell it on their site, also. Just a thought. Good luck, Marji

You know - I was at a sewing center not long ago, and they had a throw that was done with a photo - if you could get the picture of that artwork you may be able to do something like that. If you are interested i will try to look for the product number for you and let you know. That is a beautiful piece of art.
