authorise to use the software and download the designs. This key has broken in 2 parts I have put the 2 together, but the contact is often bad. I remember that some time ago (2,3,4month?)some one of you some one of you had post here something about that,she said that (in usa?) they sell a part to repare that, to realizes the link with the computer, and it was cheap. Here in France, they just purpose to sell another key, it is very expensive : 120€, that is almost 180$. If you could find this answer it should be fine. I am long in my explaination, it is difficult for me to explain that,I hope you can understand what i wish.

Hi Claude, is it the one that comes with your Software? It holds your licence and you can't use your software without it?
Have you contacted Husqvarner/Viking and asked if they can sell you a new one? You could contact USA or other country where they might sell them cheaper.

Yes, Meganne it is the key with the software 3D and I cannot use the sofware without. I have contacted the retailer, where I bought my machine, they said me that the price was 120€ (180$), and 2 or 3 weeks of wait.On the site of husqvarna.fr, there is nothing about this key.in fact, it is not the entire key which is wrong,just the upper part of the key is wrong, which make the link with the computer, and which is use to put the key in the hole USB, the part of the key which is the stick where are all the numeric onfo is good, I would find just the link. perhaps the solution of bikermomfl to buy the software 4D if it is cheaper than the key alone.Ishould find a site on internet which would sell that, I have not seen on the site of Husqvarna

Hi Claude, it is called a dongle and if mine breaks I also have to get a new one for my Janome Digitizer Pro and, yes, it is expensive and sometimes it takes a long time to get because you might have to prove that the software is yours. I live in Australia, so it is not only in France where it is expensive.

I have the designer 1 usb and was told if anything happens to the stick you'll have to buy a new one which is the cost of the 3d to begin with. Maybe you could get the 4D embroidery with a new dongle that would allow you to use the old 3d embroidery software. Using the minimum 4d set might cost less than a new dongle. About $100 at your dealer.

Hi, This same thing happened to me. I did buy another dongle (the Stick part). This cost me $50.00 in american money. Have you tried the Husquava web site for help?

It was my understanding that a new one would have to be purchased. But check with your dealer and check on line at viking. Someone included the link. As someone said it might be a good time to upgrade to a 4D. You can still use the designs that are saved in the 3D version.

Maybe your dealer would have a used one or be able to give you a good deal on a new one, if you bought it from them.

You got your answer, and I am another one that hates to have a "dongle" to access something that I have had to pay a lot of money for. And I hate having to take it out of my PC to use when i am trying to access my laptop. you would think that they could make it a little more user friendly. Hope that you can get yours fixed.
