Nonna, I really haven't stitched out any taffata - so I can't help you - but I do encourage you to do something with a test stitch and both of the stabilizers - just to be save. *4U

have tested on cut away, thought mabey solvy would be nice as the cut away shows thru. Would use tearaway but the lacy bit in the middle of the cross will be 2 hard to pick out.. Mabey will just go with the solvy Thanks anyway Pauline

thanks ricky. It is sayinh I think to baste "which is what I did" and use cutaway. Well here goes..

Taffeta
Avoid hoop burn on this delicate fabric with the
following methods:
• Hoop adhesive tear-away or cut-away stabilizer,
paper side up. Score the inside hoop perimeter with
a pin, peel away the paper to reveal the adhesive
and adhere the taffeta to the stabilizer.
• Create a hooping aid window from muslin fabric.
Hoop muslin and mesh cut-away stabilizer and cut
out a center window from the muslin only (leaving
the mesh stabilizer intact). Spray with temporary
adhesive and adhere the taffeta to the intact
stabilizer under the embroidery area.
• Embroider the design, un-hoop and cut away the
stabilize

Thanks for sharing this! I have used the window method before, and I really like it. I will be embroidering on taffeta myself. I did shantung, but I hooped the stabilizer, and then I basted the fabric onto the stabilizer, since I did not want to hoop the fabric.

I am surprised that the cut away is showing. Was it too thick? Show us how it turns out, and what your choice was.
