I don't know if this will help, but if you paint with acrylics, mix with fabric medium you will probably be able to. Tha fabric medium make it softer. You use 1/3 medium to 2/3paint.***

I had paint lots ot t-shirts with this acrylic mix, and it is very cheap.I could try it tomorrow on a small piece of fabric if you want me too, let me now.

I saw the neatest thing at the big quilt show in Atlanta last year called Artist's Paintstik. They WERE a bit pricey. They are an oil paint stick. The lady rubbed them on the fabric that was placed over a rubber stamp thus making neat designs...then embroidery over that after it cures a bit. I don't remember all the instructions, but the sticks will have it with them.A web site the lady had is www.lauraMurrayDesigns.com. Have not gone there to see if it's still available. But they sure were neat & completely machine washable & dryable after being heat set.

Fabric paint, like you would paint a t-shirt with, I would think could be embroidered over. Keep us posted, this sounds a fun project, could be very artistic. You could hand dye your own fabric, also, then embroider. Also tie-die. Best of luck, Marji
