I have spent many hours on this jacket for my sister-in-law's surprise birthday this week. We wanted something special for her. She saw an embroidered jean jacket and wanted it, but did not want to pay the price. I used a top stitch needle to do the embroidery at the recommendation of a Viking instructor, and was pleased with the results. The designs are a mix of digitizers, and I re-sized and rotated for placements. I could not open the sleeves to add designs, but decided that this was enough. I quit counting stitches after the first 300,000. I previously posted the back, but did add to it, so will post the jacket back.

Top stitch needle is really a needle to use to set off thread work on a garment. It is different from the embroidery needle and also the universal needle. This project broke 4 of these little buggers. The fabric was heavy like denim and some of the designs a little dense.

Well, my SIL loved it, and has worn it a lot. My daughters told me that it just looked like something she would wear. She has had several comments on it when she wore it out.

This is really beautiful and I can't wait to see the back!! I was curious about the top stitch needle - you used it because it was denim fabric and obviously thick??? I also love the blues against the white..nice job..*4u
