I have not done it but is on my to do list.It really looks neat. Have you checked the tutorial on emblibrary?

you need to use a puff foam and designs specially digitized for "puff" look and then you tear apart slowly and voila ...puffy 3D looking design

I tried it several years ago. You need foam. It comes in different colors. I had a pagesus that said it was made for puff embroidery. Anyway, long story short. It didn't work. I don't know what went wrong. I tried it several times. I'm lucky that it did work without the foam though. Let us know if you try it and how it works for you.

I have done it. It turns out nice. Put it on a tote bag, so haven't washed it too many times. Be sure & match up the color of the foam to the color of the thread...doesn't have to match perfectly.
