I learned how to knit first, then I started to crochet so I do 2 handed crocheting I enjoy it. Thx for asking*

I can knit....but only rectangles....I learned how to do it as a stress release and if I have to count or purl, it isn't stressless, so I just knit, and knit, and knit and knit. Make lots of blankets to donate. Lots of place mats, purses, but that's about it. Oh yeah, I made mats for my granddogs food bowls.

Yep. i do both like to crochet better as it goes quicker. do you do it maybe that is some thing you can learn from her.

I took classes when I was on junior high and did it for one or two years. After that I never did again and dont remember much now, I wish I did.

I start crocheting when I was 5, but I didn't learn to read the instructions until I was expecting my first. lol All of my knitting and crocheting were blankets and doilies. I stopped crocheting many years ago. I only recently started knitting when I got an electric knitting machine about the same time that we discovered that I had cancer. I used to embroider by hand too and tat some. Several other crafts too. I've even tried my hand at woodworking. I imagine that most of us have delved into several different crafts.

Yes, I use to knit. I made a ski sweaters and afgans. Can't remember what else. hahaha I also crochet. Loved it. Hands just can't do it anymore. Made all sorts of things. Sweaters, tablecloths and two bedspreads.

Yes, I've knitted for several years, quit and then got started again. I'm making a 'felted' purse for my daughter for a Christmas present now. Another hobby I have is tole painting. Any cuties paint???

I learnt to knit & crochet before I started school, & have continued to knit & crochet all my life. I find that crochetted baby clothes & shawls keep their shape better than knitted. I always have something on the go & have a stash for instant presents etc.

Hi Mary, yes I knit and crochet. My Mum taught me to knit when I was 5 and then my mother-n-law taught me to crochet. Love both, though crochet is a lot quicker. Waiting for grandkids. And I learned to knit with fine crochet cotton using seed beads on 1.25mm needles. Made purses and beautiful doll dresses with it. Its fun, you should have a go

My Grandmother taught me to knit when I was about 5, I taught myself to crochet when I was pregnant with first baby and I made a whole lot of beautiful lacy feminine baby clothes and shawls and pram covers, then had only two boys so gave them all away to a girlfriend who had daughters.
I don't do as much now because my hands cramp up.
I added some pics of a few of the things that I made before I broke my hand. It will give you an idea of things you can make for your G-kids once you learn how to crochet. The Teddy was for my Grandson, The Collector doll I gave to my Granddaughter when she was born, The Crystal Trinket (box?) is a porcelain half doll with a hand knitted, beaded skirt, (I kept that for myself LOL!)
The Pansy doily I made for my Sister, and The Shirley Temple outfit I made so she could go skating... LOL! And she is standing on a tablecloth I painted about 35 years ago,,, LOL! But my pride and joy is the first porcelain doll I ever made, the daughter I couldn't have, Jessica, I made all her clothes too. I usually draft all my own sewing patterns and make up my own crochet patterns as I go a long. I have done just about every craft you can think of including porcelain & ceramic sculpting and airbrushing and reborn doll making. Too many hobbies, Too little time. :-}

Oh Mary I taught my self to crochet...........knit I can't seem to get the hang of it. I made all the sweaters and blankets for my daughters twins. It was such fun. Right now I am working on a king size afghan which is about 1/3 done. Heavy little bugger it is. It is big enought to go down the side of the bed to really cover.

My grandmother taught me to knit when I was about 5 years old, with steel needles that rusted in sweaty hands. Still knit, simple stuff for my Gkids (aged between 5 months and almost 6, one is having her 4th birthday today), and when my father was ill I even knitted a dozen pair of socks, sitting there evenings and nights. I used to knit far more elaborate things, but now I keep it simple. I learned crochet at school when I was 9, taught myself tatting from a book when I was 16 or so, made pretty doileys, sturdy potholders and everything in between, like baby blankets and jackets. Made loads and loads of dolls clothes for my daughters, sewn, knitted and crocheted. I started bobbin lace making some 15 years ago. So time consuming! I'm glad I can make FSL on my machine now. And started millinery in 1994. But lately it's predominantly machine embroidery and digitizing.

I can kit n crochet,my mom taught me when i was in my teens ,and my mom-in-law taught me to do tatting. made few sweaters for the kids and hubby. i love tatting as it is very delicate work.

Yes, I knit pullover, scrafs and last winter a poncho for my daughter. Crochet, only for smal pieces like dollfashion and the most I like bobbin lace and sewing!

Yes, I used to knit my kids jumpers, but as they got older I had to make them bigger of course and it took me longer. It was much quicker when they were new borns. I used to make little bootees when they were babies..... I can crochet as well, but only blankets and going around face washers.... Embroidery is much more fun and quicker!!

I learned to knit in 8th grade from a girlfriends Mom, she taught me on a mitten pattern..(nobody told me to do both at the same time so they are the same size LOL) them did scarves & hats. After kids came along I taught myself to crochet(only afgans, can't increase or decrease). I started a tradition to make an afgan for each neice or nephew for high school graduation, 25 so far 2 more to go)
Now my kids laugh and tell me when they make the BIG leagues and they show MOM on TV.. I will be knitting and miss ALL their great accomplishments. LOL I am making my mom a hat, scarf and (will try) gloves for X-mas from yarn straight from the lamb..hand spun and natural color. I have tried my hand a counted cross stitch (my eyes were the only thing that crossed). I can't draw stick people with smiley faces, so stay far away from anything like that. My passion is machine embroidery and Quilting, when I'm not knitting. Go ahead & try, it is easier to have someone teach you that is opposite handed and can sit across from you to watch. That's how I learned CUZ I'm a show me person :)

Hi MM, yes I knit and crochet but usually they are my winter projects when I am in Florida....my sister and I go to a weekly handicraft class and the ladies always have so many terrific things on the go. Last winter they were knitting cotton bandages for cancer patients. Remember all the socks that would be the christmas gifts for all the men in the family, some even got the last sock on the four needles as there wasn't time to finish it before the day....good memories...

I knit and crochet, my mom taught me to crochet when I was young and I am glad she took the time to teach her 5 daughters to crochet. She crocheted the prettiest baby booties.

I crochet, needlepoint,needlepoint on plastic canvas, cross stitch, macrame, but do not knit. I've had to give up these because they bother my hands - that's why I've gotten back to sewing and now machine embroidery.

Yes I do some of each. I usually have acouple things going at once. Then when I get bored with one I switch to another. I have always had a problem doing seams well, so I do not do much for anything thats made in pieces. Hugs and a flower.

I crochet and knit. I prefer crochet. At this time, I mostly do afghans for Project Linus. I always have one in the making for when we travel.
