G'Morn family, I am venturing into the world of FSL, and I have H20-Gone stabilizer from Wallies. Should I use one or two layers? Does this depend on stitch count? Thanks and hugs.

I'm not sure how strong that stabilizer is but I would use 2 layers for any design. Hope this helps. *4u

Suffering, It was lbrow that recommended the H20-Gone. I never ask her this question tho. I do not know how many use this stabilizer. Hugs and a flower.

I always use at least 2 layers. I have found the type that's sorta like fabric works better than the film type.

Yes, Greeyb I started with the see thru kind and had all sorts of problems. The fabric kind works much better. Hugs and a flower.

I don't do a lot of FSL work, but I used the heavy "Badge Master" and had no problem with design tearing away. perhaps mariahail or Shirlene will see this as they are the experts!!!

Thank you Katydid, I do not know of your stabilizer, new name to me. I hate to bother Shirlene, as I know she is busy getting ready for her website. I do not know how many use the H20-Gone. Hugs and a flower.

It really depends upon how heavy the stablizer is. I use heavy weight Solvy and only use one layer. I will also depend upon whether it has a heavy (dense) stitch count.

You can use one layer it is a fiberous stabilizer, make sure you hoop it nice and tight. I have used H2O gone and wash away (fiberous) made by pellen sold at Joanns

Sorry Misscharlie I am not sure I understand, Is H20gone and what you buy at Joanns the same?? Is what you buy at Joanns also more like fabric?? What is the price per yard?? Hugs and aflower.

yes it is fiberous (fabric like) it is $3.49 a yd at joanns but I use the 40% coupon so it is $2.09 a yd

Lots of folks turn the 2 sheets in different directions as in one going north/south and 1 going east/west.;)

Watch out...it is addicting...I love FSL and look EVERYWHERE for it :) I have been stitching X-mas ornaments and angels on tulle (wedding weight)

Oh wow Blhamblen, I have not done much and I am already addicted. At first I was afraid to even try, Shirlene encouraged me to try it, so my addiction is all her fault. HaHa!! God bless her, as it is sooooo much fun. Hugs and a flower.

Don't know what price is at JoAnn's but at Walmart it's $1.89 a yrd. I look at the design & if it's not real dense I will use one layer n hoop of the fibrous h2gone n other word if it looks light & airy. If it's a more dense design I will use 2 pieces hooped n different directions as jrob suggests. B sure u have new sharp needle. I think U will really like the FSL once us do it. B sure & let us see it. *4u dear

Lbrow, Thank you, I will just need to watch my stitch counts as I use one or two layers. I do understand what you mean by how dense the design is and how to place the stabilizer. I have done some, and I am addicted already. I sure do not like the idea of Wally's closing their fabric areas. I do not know of anyone elce that carries the h2gone. I don't know what Joanns carries for stabilizer. I have learned the hard way what a difference the stabilixer makes for a good or bad embroidery design. Hugs & a flower.
