When you are embroidering and the thread goes from one area of the design to another w/o actually stitching it "jumps" leaving a line of thread that you trim away preferable before it can jump again, get sewn over, or the next color. In other words trim it about 6 stitches after the "jump". Hope this helped*

Then you save those jump stitches that you cut off and make an ornament with them like the one in designs by cuties. (the one that says Merry Christmas in Red) If you hoop tulle with the tread sandwiched inbetween it makes a really neat, colorful ornament :)

Looks like you have your answer Monica... one thing a good digitizer will try to avoid are jumps. Not only because some machines won't cut them, it causes the carriage to move throughout the design pulling the bobbin thread below... you can get puckering on the material

If you can, always try to have a running stitch between sections. Sometimes you can't avoid a jump, but it's best to try
