around the cone, I had read that it was essential to use a net to sew with metallic thread, but I do not see how it is possible ???

The net keeps the thread from coming off the spool too quickly and getting wrapped around the spindle. I have used a net on even small spools of thread. The thread just unwinds normally under the net.

They work great...I went to Joann's yesterday looking for the netting but no luck.
