Sorry Michele, I've never done anything like this. Perhaps if you can upload a picture of what it looks like someone may be able to help you, or you could go back to where you got the design and see if there is an instruction file you can download. Or you could do a search on Google for "embroidered hair barretts" to find some instructions.
Failing these, hopefully someone else here may know how to help you.

Sorry I do not know anything about this but would love to know where you got the design as I would love to try to. I have embroidered on felt and usually there is no need for stabalizer though. Lisa

Is there a die line file with the pattern. Lisa Looks like you just stitch it and cut around it when done.

It looks as though she has stitched it out and cut around the design being careful not to cut the satin stitch outline. then she has glued them to the outer edge of the barrette. Hot glue would work. If you make the embroidered peice to thick the barrette will not work. I have d/l design and will try it out. Hope this helps. Lisa

Michele when i opened the file there was a microsoft word file there. It is the instructions for making the barrettes it is very specific and easy to follow. It also shows pictures for them. It is almost like a little sleeping bag for the barrette a pocket sort of. Take a look. Lisa
