Hi, just thought i'd share. I've been using Schmetz needles for over 40 years, ever since a packet came with my Elna sewing machine. My reason, there is no substitute for quality. I won't even consider buying another brand as they are such good quality they stay sharper longer, so i get more projects out of every needle. In fact, with my sewing machine, the only time i've ever replaced one was when I broke one through my own clumsiness.

I have a Janome, so I use Janome needles -, made by Organ. The shank is slightly shorter on the Janome needle and is recommended to be used with Janome sewing and embroidery machines.Using a different brand can result in skipped stitches, due to the difference in shank length.

Just like Meganne I've been using Schmetz needles since I bought my first Elna in 1963. They last forever. I have bought cheap ones in the local market, the thicker ones for jeans, because that's the occasion I break needles when I'm not careful, but they turned out to be rubbish. So it's Schmetz for me too. I got organ needles (the industrial type, which I can't use on household machines) and they are fine. So I can't advise you on the choice between these two. As long as they are prime brands I think you'll be OK, but don't use cheap ones, it's not worth it.

I use both brands and I like the organ titanium for lacework, due to the high count of stitches they seem to stay sharper longer

What I use is Klasse'. I get them at my "Bernina" shop.

I use Schmetz, quality. However, I've not used the titanium. Ask Marjialexa, I know she does.

I use organ needles, and I will have to say is just a matter of preference. When I first started into the embroidery I read some books and the organ needles where highly recommended, so i got myself some and have had no issues with them. I have not used the Schemetz titanium needles so cant really say but their needles are really good quality too.
