i received an email i thought was my course fees for 2008 the file was zipped ( not unusual) stating accomodation details and dates to follow as the email was from the same name of someone i had spoken to about my course i assumed it was safe to unzip it....i did and my computer told me i had a virus the screen was red, alerts kept popping up slowing everything down and it was very convincing it changes your wallpaper and an alert keeps popping up to try and get you to purchase their product to remove it very cleaver advertising i say. i needed to use an anti malaware to remove it and its contents. A total pain time consuming but not dangerous ......... so please be carefull

Damn!!! Don't you just hate that!!! But I'm so glad it wasn't a real virus.

There used to be a couple of Christmas ones going around several years ago, one put a ring of flashing lights around the perimeter of your monitor screen and the only way you could close it was to hit the re-set button of your computer, which meant, if you were sneaking a peak at the email at work, you lost anything you were working on. Yes I got caught!!!

Another one when you opened it, screamed out a message to your boss that you were reading an email instead of working, it was so loud everyone in the office couldn't help but hear it and back then the speakers were internal (not add ons) so you couldn't shut it up. Someone's idea of jokes and now I think they were funny, but not at the time!!! LOL!
hugs n roses, M
