I am in a little sewing group that meets once a week. One of our ladies brought these in as a project for us all to make. It is a half circle of two sided fabric. When folded it becomes a Christmas tree. Used as a napkin for Christmas.. I am thinking of a way to embroider on them...

the straight edge (diameter is about 18")
We cut two semi-circles, put them right sides together and sewed the ric-rac on the curved edge, left a small turn hole turned right side out and viola'
Here is a link for a similiar one with a template, but she only used one layer of fabric and serged the edges.

Beautiful!!!! I made some of these a few years ago but not in the same manner....Yours definately look much nicer...I now have a use for all that christmas fabric I purchased at 90 percent off last year. The ones I made were done with a single cut circle, then serged with wooly nylon with a narrow rolled hem then folded it into the tree shape shape...Thanks for sharing...Looks like I have my next project planned now! :) *4u

Very simple, but great idea! That gold trim is very effective. Nice way to use up a number of my fat quarters - oh dear - I mean the fat quarters of Christmas prints that are in my stash!

I like the idea - I had don the circles with my serger, and then folded to look like a tree. We did embroidery around edge, but had to fold just perfectly, or it did not look right. So - just did the cirles, and used metalic threads. Great idea.

This is so nice. Would you mind emailing the pattern to me? I was at a quilting retreat this weekend and one of the lady's showed a set of these. I tried to catch up to her to get a pattern but missed her.

Get a compass and make a circle 18" across, Cut the paper in half and you have the pattern. Cut two different color fabrics from the pattern and sew them together right sides together, leave 3-4" unsewed to turn. Put the rickrack around the rounded edge...A link to another site that has a similiar project is below...

I thought you had used you stitches from your machine to make the one side. Sure is pretty. Wish we had some place to buy pretty material like that. I know buy it over the internet. But I like to feel my material first. :)

I helped my 4th graders make paper trees like this, and we used them as Christmas Cards. Instead of rick rack, we cut scallop designs. I forgot to take my decorative scissors or we would have trimmed the edges with them. They turned out so cute.
