I have a D1 and the elastic foot. The accessories manual (not the machine one) has the following instructions.
1.Set the grey disk at 3 or 4. The higher the number the more the elastic is stretched.
2.Carefully push the grey wheel to the disk and lift it.
3. Push the elastic through the large opening in the foot's bottom.
4. lower the wheel and click it in place by pushing at away from the disk.
5. Turn the wheel until the opening matches the width of the elastic (I can't move the bl** thing at all at this stage, best do it when the wheel is still up).
6. Click the foot on the machine and use a zick zack stitch, width 5, pressure set at 7-9 - the higher the pressure the more material will be stitched to the elastic.
Start sewing.
Quick translation from the Dutch, hope it's clear enough. My advice: do a test, put 4" marks on both elastic and material and you can do your sums. Success.
