Ever since Meganne made that basting stitch for me I don't hoop anything anymore. I am sure Jerilyn will be along to give the best advice tho. Just wanted to stop say HI and give you a * xoxox

If the towels are thin you can hoop them with no problems... although I prefer to baste or you can pin.

I like the basting method also. My machine has a fix that I can use to fasten the fabric to the stabilizer. I first center it and pin it. Just be sure that the pins are not in the way of the basting/fix feature! It could break a needle if it hit the pin.

I hoop and put WSS on top

I hoop with no troubles. Light spray adhesive to stabilizer (tear away) and stick on to back... Away I go! If it has a weave or waffle texture I use WSS on top too.
