Does anyone have a suggestion on what stabilizer and fabric weights to use when making gift tags?

Sewmom, I would say it depends on if there is a stitching line for the front and a back or if you will only be able to use it on felt. Whose gift tag are you using? Let's start with that. If there is a stitch line for the fabric to be placed and cut away - also a line to have the back babric placed and cut away - you wouldn't need as strong weight stablizer - if not - I would say - heavy weight pull away and cut away around the final stitch line - if you have a tag - that you can add material too - you could use a light weight mesh type stablizer and leave it in. Now, that I have written this - I know you don't know any more than before - Hehehe!

I haven't used any tags yet so I'm talking hypothetically. I'm thinking I could do what I did when I made ornaments before. I layered woven cotton then stabilizer then woven cotton. My outside edge stitching was a tight satin stitch so I cut next to the edge when I was done.
