One thing you need to do is mark your towel and make sure your hoop is where you want it to be. You should probably get some water soliuble stabilizer for the top and a tear-away for the bottom. I have a Bernina and I love making towels. Make sure your design is suitable for toweling...you may be do better with a denser design than a loose one. Do a sample design first...always a good idea. Use you 2 lessons to learn the specifics of your machine. If your dealer has other classes or clubs, sign up for those to learn the basics of stabelizing and hooping; you can learn the rest from asking questions on this site and visiting the many other sites with free tutorials like the one adelmarie posted.

I too have just started this last year. I bought the 1200 started loving it and moved on to the 4500.
I got classes with mine. You should be able to take as many needed where you bought it. I went and bought some material from Wal-Mart for 1.00 a yard and started playing with that. You can also get hand towels from the dollar store to practice on.. Have fun and welcome here. *4u
