I don't know anything about converting so I'll send ya back to the top:)

tindo, first make sure that the designs will actually fit one of the Janome hoops, or, if the design needs rotating to fit the hoop.

If that’s all OK, try using a program called ‘Truesizer’. It’s a freebie, just click on the link and download. If this program won’t save your designs at first, go to the ‘EMBroidery’ tab, then the ‘Auto Start & End’. Make the settings (I think these are the factory settings), as per the included pic, (click on the pic for a larger view). Click OK. Now try saving your design again. Don’t ask me what it does exactly, but this often works for me.

Truesizer, as well as resizing and converting will also rotate designs.
